Hi There! My name is McKayla (Kayla). I think it's essential for my clients to know my story of becoming a Dog Trainer. It all started when My now husband and i got our first dog, her name is mocha and she is a Miniature Australian shepherd. We got Mocha when she was a little over 12 weeks old from a backyard breeder, we knew very minimal about her breed except for the fact they're very smart dogs. WHen we got Mocha she had little to no socialization besides the breeders interacting with her and her parents. We took Mocha home and found her to be very shy, almost afraid of everything. She did not care to meet new people or dogs and would cower and run to hide anytime we tried, unfortunately, we didn't know any better and allowed her to continue doing this. Over time her shyness turned into a behavioral issue causing her to bark, lunge, and nip at the air when new people came around. Obviously, we realized this was an issue and began doing our own research to help her overcome her reactivity towards new people and dogs. After much time, dedication, and research we were able to get her comfortable being around new people and dogs.

After my experience with Mocha, I found other people have dealt with similar issues and weren't able to fix it on their own like we were. Mocha inspired me to help other people rehabilitate their dog's reactivity and lead them to live happier, stress-free life. So in 2019, I began my journey to become a Dog Trainer. I received my CDTK from Catch Academy after I completed their Master Dog Trainer Program. Catch Academy is a Purely positive reinforcement training program. After completing my Master Dog Trainer Program I wanted to expand my education and learn how to use training tools properly, I found this useful because although Positive Reinforcement works great it may not work for every dog, and tools can be very useful if used properly. I began a 6 Month Apprenticeship Through Redemption Dog Training in Provo Utah and learned a more balanced dog training approach.

Our goal at Companerismo Dog Training is to help you and your dog not only strengthen your Companerismo (companionship) but help you and your dog live a happier life together by teaching you both how to effectively communicate in a way you both understand.
