This week I got the opportunity to work with Heather Beck at K9lifeline to learn more about large social classes. Heather Beck is the owner of K9 Lifeline in Draper UT, she has over 20 years experience in the dog training world, has written a book, developed an amazing leash and has worked with many of the well known dog trainers you know today.
Throughout my time at this workshop I was able to get a lot of hands on work "shadowing" the dogs- making sure they were able to get out of sticky situations and make good choices on their own, interrupting inappropriate behaviors, and learning how to slow down a room. We also discussed safety protocols and how to effectively prevent and breakup a dog fight.
My goal through this workshop was to learn more about socialization with larger more rambunctious dogs and larger groups of dogs to be able to give my clients the best most safe source of socialization for their dogs. I am extremely excited to take the knowledge I've gained from this experience and implement it into my training programs.
